October Snow

Nate and I celebrated 11 years together on Sunday, to celebrate our anniversary we took a little drive with the dogs to go on a hike in the mountains.

It was a beautiful sunny fall day, the colors were so bright and vibrant. It was just gorgeous out.

We're driving along and enjoying the scenery, driving up to a specific point to hike some old logging roads.

As we got up to the top of the drive where the view was, and where we were going to hike, we put the truck in park and it started snowing!  It was so magical.

It was the first snow we've had this season.

We got out of the truck and ran around in the snow with our dogs and it was so fun and so magical to be up in the tops of the mountains with the snow and our dogs, all of us, just enjoying the winter weather, with the backdrop of the fall colors under the fresh snow.

It's such a magical time this time of year that first snow before all of the leaves drop, and you still have all of the color all of the orange and red, and yellows, all across the hillside vibrantly below the white snow. It's a breathtaking time of year.

As we drove down in the snow, it felt like a blizzard for a few moments, until we hit the temperature line and finally started to dry up and it became sunny again.

It was just so much fun that we could both enjoy the first snow of the season!

When we're going to go hiking, we were not dressed for snows, we didn't end up hiking much, even though we didn't really hike, it was still so much fun to be out together as a family enjoying the transition of seasons

I'm just so grateful that both of us are able to enjoy the moment, even when the moment doesn't turn out the way you think it's going to turn out.

We thought we were gonna go for a sunny fall hike and ended up getting snowed out and still loved the day!

We get to choose to love that day! We could have chosen to get angry or agitated that it started snowing already in October, but instead we chose to get excited, we chose to get invigorated and get charged up for ski season right around the corner! Enjoying our first Montana snow of the season!

And so the choice is yours each and every day, as things happen in our lives, we get to choose how we're going to feel about it, how we want to think about it, how we want to react to it.

We can either choose to embrace it and dance in the snow, and enjoy the fact that the seasons change and we get to grow and change with the seasons, or we can be upset and angry and agitated and waste our breath and time and energy on complaining and whining about the change that is inevitable.

Change is the only constant and guarantee in life, aside from death.

Just like getting to choose how we feel about the change of the seasons, we get to choose how we feel about the changes that happen in our lives.

These photos were taken 14 minutes apart, haha I was using Nate’s fit over sunglasses to keep my eyes safe from the pelting snow ;)

I hope you choose today to dance in the snow!

In love, light and gratitude,
